William Floyd Hester Jr.

Mr. William Floyd “Bill” Hester, Jr., age 88 of Winder, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2023. A native of DeKalb County, Georgia, he was a former resident of Hobart, Indiana and had resided in Winder for the past forty-one years. Mr. Hester had pastored a church in Hobart, Indiana and pastored Open Arms Baptist Church in Duluth, Georgia for a short time. He had served in The United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was a son of the late Miriam A. McGhee Hester and William F. Hester, Sr. Mr. Hester retired from Conoco Phillips Petroleum as a HVAC Technician with twenty-two years of service. His love was street preaching where he preached at The Gazebo in downtown Winder every Saturday from 11 A. M. until 12:00 P. M. for over thirty-seven years.


Immediate Family Members include his Wife of sixty-five years, Jerelyn Jones Hester, of Winder, Georgia, Children, William Dallas (Jill) Hester of North Judson, Indiana, Valerie Hester of Winder, Georgia and Benjamin Jerome Hester of Monticello, Indiana, Three Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren and Sister, Jeanneane (Clarence) Gibbs of Loganville, Georgia.

The Family will receive friends Friday, December 8, 2023 from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 A. M. from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Cory Sexton and Rev. Larry Youngblood officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 P. M. in Flovilla City Cemetery, Flovilla, Georgia.
