Mr. Van Elliott, age 81, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Mr. Elliott was born and raised in Barrow County. He was a dedicated member of the Auburn First Baptist Church and a former member of Winder First Baptist Church. Van attended Young Harris College, Georgia Southern College, and worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation. He joined the United States Air Force, and he was honorably discharged after his years of service. Mr. Elliott then became a banker with the Bank of Barrow where he had a successful banking career.
Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents, James Kelly Elliott and Dora Mae Little.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Hazel Rolader Elliott of Winder; siblings, Dwayne Elliott of Carl, Nelson “Doc” Elliott of Cairo, and Gaylan E. Nix of Gainesville; along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Van Elliott will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Parkin and Rev. Lee Sass officiating. Burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home.
The family has requested that flowers please be omitted and donations be made to the Auburn First Baptist Church at 1385 6th Avenue Auburn, Georgia 30011.
