Shirley Elrod Thornton

Mrs. Shirley Elrod Thornton, age 78, of Winder, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on November 4, 2016. A Daughter of the late Arthur and Nettie Cook Elrod, she had resided in Barrow County for most of her life. Mrs. Thornton was a member of Pentecost United Methodist Church and was employed as a Clerk at Gold Kist/Southern States.
Surviving are Husband, Everette Thornton of Winder, Daughter and Son-in-law, Pamela and Eric Knisley of Winder, Son and Daughter-in-law, Hollis and Lynn Thornton of Hoschton, Daughter and Son-in-law, Melodie and Mike Johnson of Auburn, Grandchildren, Courtney Epps, Kira Thornton, Lindsey Knight, Levoy Knight, Zachary Knight, Stacy Knight, Cody Johnson and Nathan Johnson, Great Grandchildren, Malia Knight, Leighton Epps, and Brantley Johnson, Sister, Dink Sailors of Winder.
A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2:00 P. M. from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Staton and Rev. Brian Davis officiating. The Family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at the funeral home. Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to Pentecost United Methodist Church, P. O.
