Mr. Sammy Davis Hawkins, age 80, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
Mr. Hawkins was a lifelong resident of Winder. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Mr. Hawkins retired from the Barrow County Roads and Bridges Department as an equipment operator. He will be best remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather, and brother.
Mr. Hawkins is preceded in death by his parents; Hill Hawkins and Imogine Davis Hawkins; son, Tommy Hawkins, and sister, Patsy Haney.
Mr. Hawkins is survived by his children; Randy (Tammy) Hawkins of Carl, James (Beverly) Hawkins of Auburn, John (Patti) Hawkins of CT, Thomas (Jessica) Hawkins/Fuller of Cumming, and Sammi (Aaron) Bayens of FL; sisters, Bobbie Shipley of Monroe and Suzie (Jimmy) Spratlin of Monroe; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Sammy Hawkins will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Linwood Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Carl Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home.
