Mr. Roy Haggard, age 92, of Winder, Georgia, currently residing at Magnolia Estates, left his earthly home for his Heavenly home on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was born in Commerce, Georgia on February 13, 1931, and was a son of the late Jewell and Annie Cheek Haggard. Roy served his country during the Korean War and enlisted in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Annis J. Haggard. A resident of Barrow County since 1966, he had attended The Winder First Baptist Church and was a retiree of University Chevrolet of Athens, Georgia with 54 years of service.
Surviving are Son and Daughter-in-law, Wiliam D. (Bill) and Susie Haggard of Athens, Georgia, Daughter, Kathy H. Dunsmore of Winder, Georgia, Grandchildren, Leslie Dunsmore of Marietta, Georgia, and Laura Dunsmore (Sam Beck) of Winder, Georgia, Great Grandsons, Isaac James Beck and Dylan Roy Beck, Brother, George Haggard of Hoschton, Georgia.
The Family will receive friends Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 2:00 P. M. until 4:00 P. M. at Carter Funeral Home. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 2:00 P. M. at Barrow Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Cox officiating with Mr. Steve Shubert delivering the Eulogy.
Serving as pallbearers will be Leslie Dunsmore, Sam Beck, Buck Wheeler, Doug Westmoreland, Jimmy Brooks and Jimmy Compton, honorary pallbearers will be Larry Cox and Jimmy Mewborn.
