Harry "Rocky" Howland, a door & window Inside Salesman and resident of Hoschton, GA died on The Lord's Day, May 21, 2017 at the age of 63 while at home in hospice care.
Rocky is survived by his wife, Debbie Howland; his children, Jack Howland, Dorothy Forrester, Gabe Howland, Sarah Keister, Michael Howland, Laura Howland, Hannah Howland, Marjory Howland, and Alaina Howland; six granddaughters and two grandsons; his sisters, Laura Lee Howland, Sara Howland, and Kiki Gibson; and his brother, Luke Howland. He is predeceased by his father, Harry K Howland Senior; his mother, Dorothy Howland, and his brother, Thressen Howland.
Rocky was born December 28, 1953 in Evanston, IL to Harry K. and Dorothy Howland, Sr. He attended Covenant College, where he met his bride, and graduated in 1981 with a degree in Greek. In July of 1982 he married his beloved Debbie. They were blessed with their oldest son, Jack, in 1983, and 6 additional daughters and 2 additional sons, the youngest born in 2003. The family moved to Hoschton, GA in 1996 where they live currently.
Rocky was a devoted husband, father, and lover of his savior, Christ Jesus. He was actively involved in his church, Covenant Presbyterian Church in Buford, GA, leading music for Sunday evening worship service and hosting an annual church Memorial Day picnic for 21 years. He was an avid prayer and encourager of his church to seek the throne of all grace fervently and without ceasing, both individually and corporately. He was loved and respected by his work community and church family. He showed many who visited him in his final weeks what it means to die well, fixing his eyes on Christ Jesus and putting his hope and trust in the blood of Christ.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on May 27 at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Rock Springs Road in Buford, GA. Reverend Christopher B. Strevel will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations and condolences may be offered to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1420 Rock Springs Road, Buford, GA 30519.
