Mrs. Kay Kyungja Hong, a cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born on October 29, 1944, in Seoul, Korea, and later built a beautiful life surrounded by her loved ones.
A passionate member of the Suwanee Korean Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mrs. Hong was not only known for her unwavering faith but also for her vibrant personality. She enjoyed traveling, painting, and music. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, her warmth and loving spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Mrs. Hong was preceded in death by her father, Sunghak Kim, and her mother, Sukkeum Whang.
Mrs. Hong was a beloved wife to her husband, Mike Manpyo Hong of Auburn. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Laura Songah Hong of Oregon and Joy Songhae Hong of Auburn. Her legacy is carried on by her grandchildren, Dylan Brimdal of St. Pierce, Florida, Ethan Brimdal of Ocoee, Florida, Juree Inn of New York, and Skye Inn of Hawaii. She also leaves behind a family of siblings: Yong Kap Kim of San Francisco, California; Yong Ho Kim of San Francisco, California; Yong Soo Kim of Vacaville, California; Kyunghwa Kim of San Francisco, California; and Yong Choel Kim of Concord, California.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2025 in the Chapel of Maddox-Carter Memorial Home with Pastor Sang Jun Oh officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Hong will be cremated.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the service hour at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home.
