Mr. Earl Paulk Southerland, age 86, of Hoschton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Southerland served the United States faithfully in the Air Force where he was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class. Earl was devoted to his faith; he served as a Deacon and Elder for over fifty years with the Smyrna Church of Christ, Burnt Hickory Church of Christ, and Chestnut Mountain Church of Christ. One of his greatest enjoyments was overseeing the Benevolence activities within the church. Mr. Southerland retired as a Lithographer.
Mr. Southerland was preceded in death by his infant son, Rickie Southerland; parents, Claude Southerland and Ethel Barrow Southerland; and brother, Marcell Southerland.
Mr. Southerland is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Lucy Southerland of Hoschton; sons, Barry (Jill) Southerland of Hoschton and Terry (Sheila) Southerland of Dacula; five grandchildren, Brittany Southerland Kivett, Brannan Southerland, Blake Southerland, Derrick Southerland, and Audrey Southerland; and eleven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 7, 2025 in the Chapel of Maddox-Carter Memorial Home with Minister Ron Cope, Minister Jim Craft, and Minister Seth Michael officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Friday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home.
A graveside service with Air Force Honors will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Duncan Church of Christ Cemetery in Duncan, South Carolina.
The family respectfully request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Chestnut Mountain Church of Christ or Georgia Agape in memory of Mr. Southerland.
Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
