Judith "Judy" Elaine Honson

April 24, 1940 — July 16, 2024

Mrs. Judith (Judy) Elaine Honson, age 84, passed away, peacefully, July 16, 2024, at her residence in Auburn, Georgia.

Judy was born in Mount Carmel, Illinois, April 24, 1940, to Casey Lockhart and Eva Mae Hall. She will be remembered in so many different ways. She was a kind and gentle woman, very positive and optimistic, who spent much of her life being a good mother, a loving wife, encouraging and helping many people in different parts of the world. She had a strong belief and faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She married Lester Honson on January 3, 1960, and they were married nearly 65 years, with a strong deep love for each other. She served as a missionary with her husband, and 2 sons, mostly in Ireland for 17 years. Judy also served beside Lester, in several churches in Georgia and North Carolina after their time in Ireland. Around early 2000, she began writing Christian Mystery stories, The Lavendar Lane series, and wrote 32 books in this series, nearly finishing book 33. In addition to being a mother and wife, she was also a professional cake decorator, made women’s clothing, made and sold handmade outfits for Barbie dolls, sold popcorn for extra income, along with many other things in her earlier years. In the ministry years, she welcomed many people from different parts of the world that would come to help in the ministry during the summer, in Ireland. This included cooking for 50 or more people, 3 meals a day, helping with laundry and being a tour guide, showing them different, favorite, parts of the country. She taught Sunday School, counseled people and worked in a book store. Judy journaled for over 50 years leaving a legacy of positive “Highlights” of her life, to her family. She was also the recorder of birthdays and anniversaries for both the Lockhart and Honson families, putting together individual collections of creative photo albums and histories of each family within the family trees. She loved to travel and was able to go to more than 12 different countries. She had a full and enjoyable life! She will be missed by many!

Judy was preceded in death by her youngest son Leif Earl Honson, parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Honson, her son, Les (Patricia) and his 3 grandchildren (Garin, Devin and Ariana), and 5 great grandchildren. Daughter-in-law Patricia, with her 4 children (Daniel, Nadia, Leslie and Katherine), and 9 grandchildren, and Judy’s brother, Levi Lockhart along with many nephews and nieces.
