Mr. John Thomas Marlar, Jr., age 81, of Winder, Georgia passed away April 9, 2021. A native of Jackson, Alabama, he was born September 24, 1939 to the late John Thomas, Sr. and Ada Jean Hamilton Marlar. He had resided in Winder for the past thirty years and was preceded by his wife, Joyce Ann Smallwood Marlar in 1997. Mr. Marlar was a member of The Corvette Club and his hobbies included woodworking, gardening and painting. He was a retiree of the Environmental Protection Agency, where he served as an engineer in water pollution control.
Surviving are children, John Thomas (Bibiana) Marlar, III, of Marietta, Georgia, Jeannine (Paul) van der Linden of the Netherlands, Jennifer Downen of Tucker, Georgia, Preston (Linda) Moon and Regina Moon Etheridge all of Winder, Georgia, Sister, Nancy Cummings of Daphne, Alabama, grandchildren, Dylan Marlar, Douwe van der Linden, Daan van der Linden, Ashley Downen, Alex Downen, Brooke Patterson, Michael Etheridge, Jesse Etheridge and Jake Etheridge and three great grandchildren.
The Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 5:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 25 Wilkins Road, Winder, Georgia 30680. Entombment will follow at The Chapel Mausoleum of Barrow Memorial Gardens.
