Ms. Janet Youngs Ashe, age 75, of Bethlehem, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023.
Ms. Ashe retired as an engineer with Newport News Ship Builders. Her passions in life were her faith, family, and working with children. She was a devoted educator that had a natural love for learning. Some of her interest included Jane Austen novels, Shakespeare literature, and Opera.
Ms. Ashe was preceded in death by her parents, Marion “Buster” Youngs and Augustine “Tina” Youngs; and siblings, Michael Youngs, Jimmy Youngs, and Joyce Langley.
Ms. Ashe is survived by her children, Candy Murphy, Tina Ashe, Angel Ashe (Shane Aldridge), Ricky (Shannon) Ashe, and Cathy (Ken) McDaniel; six grandchildren, Ryan, Meaghan, Cassi, David, Skyler, and Bre; and one great-grandchild, Charolette.
As a final gift to education and an act of love, Ms. Ashe requested that her remains be donated to the University of Tennessee College of Forensic Anthropology.
The family of Ms. Ashe will be receiving friends on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home.
It is requested, in lieu of flowers, please donate school supplies to children in our community who are in need. Donations will be accepted during the evening of visitation at Carter Funeral Home.
