Mr. James “Peg” Barnes, age 73, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away January 2, 2024. James was born October 15, 1950 in Gainesville to E. H. and Bessie Mae Lemely Barnes, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by brothers, Everett Barnes, Doug Barnes and Ricky Barnes. James had served in the earth moving industry most of his working life and was later employed as a General Supervisor with Strickland Pipeline.
Surviving are Wife, Sharon Edwards Barnes of Gainesville, Georgia, Children Jami and Andrew Holcomb of Jefferson, Georgia, Scott and Sue Barnes of Gaylord, Michigan, Grandchildren, Morrison Barnes, Ella Rose “Rosie” Holcomb and Ava Mae Holcomb, Sisters, Betty (Jerry) Vaughn of Warner Robins, Georgia, Kathy (Mike) Jackson of Douglasville, Georgia and Bonnie Barnes of Fayetteville, Georgia, and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced later.
