Mrs. Evelyn Stewart Sims, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Mrs. Sims was born in Woodstock, Ga to Felcie Mae Cochran-Stewart and Bartow Lyon Stewart-Odum.
She was Widowed after 53 years of blessed marriage to Lorenzo Dowe Sims, she leaves a legacy of gardening, reading, antiquing, and southern cooking to her surviving family:Sisters Eurahvee (Bea) Cayce, and Imogene (Jean) Weitzel, andbrother William Stewart. Son Edward Dowe Sims, and daughters Delores June Kolton, and Jill Brown. Grandchildren Matthew Lorenzo Brownell, Catena Brownell-Phillips, Heather Sims-Petosky, Ryan James, Cody Sims, Nathan Kolton, Jeremy Kolton, Amanda Kolton-Rucker, Joseph Graham, David Sims, Julia Sims, Katy Sims-Stafford and their spouses. 16 nieces and
nephews. Great and Great-Great Grandchildren numbering 61 descendants.
Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by a son Ervin Theo Sims (Teddy), his wife Brenda, and Grandson Joshua Graham.
A private family graveside service was held at the McElroy-Sims Family Cemetery in Winder.
