Carl Delano Long

Mr. Carl Delano Long, age 90, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

Mr. Long was born on March 4, 1933 in Chamblee, Georgia. He served the United States faithfully in the Marine Corp. As a strong believer in higher education, Carl attended William and Mary, Southern Tech and Georgia Tech where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout his career, he was an accomplished architect. Carl was devoted to his faith and had a strong love for the Lord serving as a lay leader in the United Methodist Church. He will be best remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents; Cecil F. Long and Louise H. Long; and brother, Gary Long.

Mr. Long is survived by his loving wife, Sidney Shell Long; four children, David (Tina) Long, Lisa (Robert) Acuff, Rawson (Tammy) Shell, and Paula S. (Don) Reeves; brother, Lamar (Joy) Long; sister-in-law, Judy Long; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home.
